Get to Know Allison

Hi! I’m Allison Pickles. I graduated from Marymount University in 2012 with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I relocated to Colorado in 2013 and have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state since 2015. I’ve been working in the field of mental health care since 2008.

I'm deeply invested in helping folks learn to be kinder to themselves through therapy. My clients are people who are invested in change, seeking to love themselves, and who are ready to take a look inward and say, “I want something better for myself each day.” My experience ranges from crisis work with those standing on the precipice of a mental breakdown to those wanting to lessen anxiety. I am passionate about diversity and equity and believe all people deserve access to affordable, quality therapy regardless of who they are, who they love, where they come from, or what they look like. My goal is to help clients reach their emotional health goals while showing kindness and, most importantly, helping folks learn how to show themselves kindness.

My approach is to understand you as a person first and to build trust together. I will offer practical skills to help you navigate hard areas of life and to help you get to know and appreciate yourself. By helping folks better see their hidden strengths and tackle areas they want to improve, I help them facilitate growth with encouragement and supportive listening. Together we will work to understand what made you who you are and how you want to mold that current version of yourself into the person you truly want to be. I also believe in humor having a safe home in therapy and allowing space for clients to highlight joy, no matter how small it may seem.

I am passionate about sitting with those who are struggling. I do not shy away from big emotions, high mountains, or deep holes. It is in my nature to listen and be present with people and to focus on finding those oft-hidden paths forward. I am a mom, a dog lover, a crafter, a Colorado transplant (though I got here as quickly as I could), and a therapist driven to seek solutions and help others make lasting changes that improve the way they navigate this wild ride called life.

I take an eclectic approach to providing therapy. I utilize many different theoretical methods to help my clients. These include but are not limited to ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems) or Parts work, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Attachment Theory, Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy.
